What are these numbers???
Trying to find some accurate data about our county for housing and income. I was looking at the census data, which I know can be skewed, but here it is https://www.census.gov/quickfacts/fact/table/bloomingtoncityindiana/PST045224 and at Statistical Atlas: https://statisticalatlas.com/county/Indiana/Monroe-County/Household-Income
Then I was looking at the BEDC website and saw this, which seems WILDLY inaccurate:
"The average household income in Monroe County is $94,028 and projected to be $110,308 in 2029. Per capita income is $40,071, projected to be $47,762 in 2029. 3.47% of households – 4,887 – have an income of $200,000 or higher. Average net worth is $1,018,424 and the average disposable income is $70,612.
There are 65,191 housing units in Monroe County; 31,943 are owner-occupied, 27,491 are rented, and 5,757 are vacant. The average home value is $339,289, with 6,185 homes built in 2010 or later, and 5,900 built in 1939 or earlier."
This is so so so strange to me. In what world is the average household income $94k here? And in what version of Bloomington are there nearly 6,000 vacant units???
Does this seem strange to anyone else? Is BEDC just trying to make it look extra good to live here? Or am I missing some way that the data could be interpreted to support their claims?
